Welcome to Editor’s Notes—
A personal corner of Currant where I write not just as an editor, but as a woman, mother, observer, and creative. Here you’ll find reflections on what’s shaping our world, what’s lingering in my thoughts, and what feels too important to scroll past.

social media

This was my second week of working full time again. I’m so relieved to be able to get back behind my desk again and do the things I have missed. Writing, creating, brainstorming on projects for next year.

Being pregnant isn’t easy. There’s physical challenges, mental challenges and of course, emotional challenges. This week we had a 3D ultrasound and it had me crying all night in bed just looking at the face of our baby girl.

I shared some of these challenges on Instagram this week.

We also published our first essay here. I love Phoebe Philo, ever since her days at Celine. Half of my closet consists of Philo Celine pieces. And now I’m anticipating the drop of Collection D next year (I’m seriously eyeing that draped leather jacket). The essay is a first step in the direction I want to take Currant in. A platform with in-depth essays, curated lists — editorials that feed the eyes and mind. Where intellectual fashion enthusiasts can live and breath without being constantly pushed towards mass consumerism.

This week I also found myself active again on Threads. I haven’t found my rhythm back on Instagram and TikTok yet but Threads is so new and undiscovered that it makes it easier to post thoughts there. And it’s so much easier to connect with likeminded people. Of course, it’s easy to attract opposing thoughts as well but that’s part of the social media game I guess.

Hello, again

This week I emerged from the shadows again. After months of staying in bed due to nausea and fatigue from the pregnancy and trying figure out life again afterwards, I finally feel ready to pick up where I left off.

This week I shared a post where I revealed the gender of the baby. With Rosie, the gender reveal was this big thing that I was looking forward to and it had so much weight to it. Somehow, with a second child, it becomes less of a thing. That is not to say that we’re not thrilled that we get to finally put a face (somewhat) to this tiny human growing inside me. We were over the moon and would have been either way.

We also shared a little update on Currant’s social media. We’re excited to finally be able to announce a new direction for Currant. It has been something on my mind for a while now. People change and when you have a business of your own, it’s inevitable that your business changes with you too.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your messages of love. And for supporting us through the years. It wasn’t an easy decision to be honest. With so many stockists, who put faith in Currant from the start, it is quite frightening to one day say, ‘hey, we’re changing things up’. But in this I also want to thank our lovely partners for their continuous support.

I have to say, I love this space where I can share my personal thoughts freely. It reminds me of the old blogging days, or the first years of Instagram, before everything got so dependent on SEOs and algorithms but pages were written by people, with personal opinions, untainted by commercial prospects. I miss those days somehow.
